Yokini Swimwear: Sexy & Flattering Swimsuits for many figure types

Finding figure flattering swimwear is as much an art as it is a science. To rule out some of the mystery in finding the perfect swimsuit for you I am dedicating a series of blog posts to do just that! This is always a popular topic this time of year and I want to make your search as effortless as possible. For each of the main figure types I want to highlight my top 5 recommendations to best enhance that figure so you feel confident, sexy and comfortable wherever your summer jaunts may take you.

Check out the following links for past posts on bathing suits:

But I have a surprise. This first post will be dedicated to a relatively new line of swimwear that I believe can flatter almost every figure and swimwear occasion. Why? It all boils down to the proprietary fabrication and design of the swimsuit bottom. I present to you ladies, Yokini swimwear convertible bikini bottom!

The vision behind Yokini Swimwear came from the idea that a more mature woman  can still wear a sexy two piece swimsuit with confidence and style. The unique Yokini bottom enables a woman to adjust the fabric to fit her lower body like a glove. Any problem areas in the hips or tummy instantly disappear when multi- layers of control stretch fabric are concentrated directly on the area.

Sound too good to be true? It isn’t. I had the pleasure of sampling the line myself and I love it! I now have a bikini with a convertible bottom that I can wear so many ways depending on my mood or the occasion—all the way up so it looks like a one piece, at the waist for a retro look, as a banded bottom so it looks like your regular bikini and (really cool!) like a skirt so it also acts as an instant cover up.

Check out this HOW TO WEAR VIDEO

Regardless of how you choose to wear it, it is extremely figure flattering and comfortable because the fabric is breathable and very stretchy. If you are bottom heavy you can wear it as a skirted bikini to minimize your hips and thighs. If you have a tummy, you can wear it retro style and swim with confidence. If you are curvy, you can wear it as a low rise banded bikini for maximum sex appeal. If you have a more boyish shape, you can wear it like a sexy one piece or sportier style.

Convertible swimwear is not new. But what is new here is that the bottom really can be molded various ways on your body for a completely different look. And the idea that this can go dramatically from a one piece look to a skirted one is very innovative.

Inspired by yoga wear, the Yokini bikini is designed so every woman can start feeling sexy, confident and stylish in a bathing suit. Flaunt It on the beach, the pool or on the volley ball court!

Flaunting It with the Image Diva Blog Turns 4 Years Old

Time sure does fly!

I started this blog three years ago to get me in the habit of writing consistently. As an added benefit, I discovered it was a great way to share tips, advice and resources to my clients and visitors of my web site. That added benefit is perhaps the main reason I continue to blog. I am SO inspired by ways I can educate, inform and empower through my posts. But perhaps even more profoundly, my book "Frumpy to Fabulous: Flaunting It. Your Ultimate Guide to Effortless Style" was written ‘almost’ effortlessly because I had such great content I’d written over the years in this very blog that I could use as muse. It’s been awesome.

Over the years I’ve written posts about dressing to flatter your figure, the impact of color, accessorizing with ease, wardrobe do’s and dont’s, new fashion trends, celebrity red carpet critques, great brands I love, how to wear/what to wear almost every item of clothing for women, dressing to impress, professional presence, expressing your unique style, style deal breakers, dressing the pregnant body fabulously–I can go on and on. I’ve covered so much ground in three years that this Elan Blog truly is a go to resource for women seeking to enhance their style, image, fashion sense and wardrobes while staying true to themselves. It’s been a privilege sharing with you!

My goal this year is to raise the bar higher. To share more real  life transformation stories with readers and to provide even more advice that can truly impact the way you look and the way you feel about how you look. I started blogging before many fashion bloggers and in the beginning I was REALLY on a roll. The frequency of my blog posts have slowed down in the past year but not my passion for my work as an image consultant. There is so much I want to share with you about being the brilliant, magnificent light you already are. My mission will be to continue to elevate women the world over by empowering them to show up as ‘their highest, finest vision of themselves’ as stated in my new book. Look for more ‘yes you can!’ types of posts in the months to come.

Thank you for your continued support! It is because of you I get to live my passion and leave my fingerprint on this earth.

7 Ways to Look Fabulous & Flaunt It on Valentine’s Day!

I love this quote from Michael Kors who was recently interviewed for In Style magazine. He shares, "Don’t dress to go with your age. Dress to go with your body. So much depends on self image! I know women over 49 who love their legs and 29 year old girls who hate their arms. Don’t let ‘age rules’ dictate what you wear." If you read my book ‘Frumpy to Fabulous: Flaunting It‘ you’ll know I highly endorse this perspective. Sometimes we are what we wear and if you dress frumpy,  you sure won’t be turning any heads.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Celebrate your inner lioness and break out all the stops, regardless of how you spend your evening. Here are 7 quick tips to guide you!

  1. Take time to style your hair. So many women I work with just don’t bother and they have a litany of excuses as to why. If merely to please the man in your life on V-Day (or to get glammed for yourself) take the time to style your hair in a way that makes you feel beautiful.
  2.  Wear a skirt or dress. For most of us it’s winter and we’re all clothed up. Show off some leg on Monday. Don a pair of textured stockings that are all the rage now. Or show your arms. Or a little cleavage. Or a peek of your back. You will feel more feminine and will exude allure.
  3.  Please go the extra mile with your make-up, especially your lips and eyes. You can’t imagine the difference it makes to your sparkle quotient. Dare to paint your lips a shade of red. Put on a couple coats of mascara. Try a new eye shadow.  Make your command central, your face, simply irresistible.
  4. Come thee bejeweled. This is one of those days when you want to bring your ‘A’ game. Dangly earrings, a statement necklace, killer cuffs on the wrists, blinging rings-all good. Wearing jewelry will make you feel as fabulous as you’re going to look.
  5. Even if you’re a tall gal like I am, heels really do make you strut that much more convincingly. I’m not asking you to wear them all day now and they don’t have to be 4". Just skip the flats, ok?
  6. Wear a color that makes you pop! Ensure that there is no mistaking that you are Present and just radiating beauty. Any color that makes your eyes sparkle will be a winner.
  7. Wear a scent that will make your man want to cuddle with you all night. Perfume is an invisible accessory but on a day like this it can seal the deal. Your man will be hopelessly and happily yours all night long.

Event: What to wear tips, Book Signing and Fab Giveaways to help you Flaunt It

It’s been extremely busy the past few weeks with the release of my book: Frumpy to Fabulous: Flaunting It. Your Ultimate Guide to Effortless Style. Their are many style or makeover guides on the market but I believe my book is different. Sure I share tips, tricks and strategies to help you look amazing: from dressing for your figure type; to learning how to mix and match the right  colors for you so you pop; to figuring out how to pick the right jeans for your body; to dressing secrets for petites, talls and plus; to learning how to get inspiration so you continue to refine your own personal style and so much more. In fact there are so many tips in this book for ALL women that one reviewer dubbed the book, ‘the ultimate fashion accessory’.

And here I am using it as such (smile)

Then there are the ‘stories’  I share based on my work as a professional image consultant working with hundreds of women. There is a very real personal touch and voice in these pages that women can relate to so they know they are not alone in their challenges. I help them tackle the ‘saboteurs’ that may be holding them back from their true magnificence! Oh women have many excuses for why they don’t have the time, means or know how to look and feel great. This book challenges each woman to elevate her image by blasting away the negative self talk that holds so many of us down. Finally, this book was written with a mission: to transform the life of each person who reads it. The transformation can be subtle or dramatic–just like the transformations I  see occur with my own clients. But the bottom line is that it is a book you will want to take with you when you shop so you can refer back to the advice in its pages (hello Kindle edition!). Lean more about Mission 1 Million Makeovers which the book helps support.

The paperback book is available for sale at Amazon and I am so pleased with the amazing support and feedback I’ve received. Folks have been asking me about my official "launch". Pregnant and Fabulous

Pregnancy used to be an excuse to let it all hang out—literally! Nine months of not worrying about tucking in your tummy, wearing high heels, or having to look fabulous. But celebs lately have upped the ante. They have been strutting around pregnant looking amazing proving that a tummy can be very attractive. Pregnancy is IN and looking great pregnant never…well , looked so great!

This post is one of my most popular. It’s because women still want to feel great even while accommodating an ever widening mid section. The celebrities featured here  are not only meant to inspire you, but also to give you great ideas on how you too can rock it while pregnant. All woman, pregnant or otherwise tummy endowed can get great tips on how to dress in flattering ways to enhance  a prominent tummy.  I will demonstrate how celebs including new Moms, Hale Berry, Jennifer Lopez, and Moms to be Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba and Cate Blanchett, strategically use color, design, pattern and layers to in their ensembles to enhance their maternal silhouettes.

For more tips on how to strategically look slimmer, taller and dress to flatter many figure woes, you might just want to grab a copy of my bestselling Amazon book: Frumpy to Fabulous: Flaunting It. Your Ultimate Guide to Effortless Style. I’m just saying!

Tips!

First, bold color is an amazing fashion trend that works really well for pregnant women who are confident that they can rock a bold color unabashedly. Jennifer Lopez shows off this look in her blue Marchesa dress.

She looks radiant and lovely.  Cate wears a demure green dress and proudly shows off her new bump.

Jennifer also sports a white goddess dress and looks just as beautiful.

Angelina Jolie wears a Hermes ombre brown dress and you’d never guess she was hiding a baby bump under the amazing drape of her strapless dress.

Black is always bold and of course slimming. Hale, Angelina and Cate all use black to camouflage their new curves while still looking very sexy.

Angelina’s profile in her long black flutter sleeve dress is as beautiful as a painting—pregnancy at its finest.

Hale’s rocks black looks that are hot and divalicious!! Here she rocks a black leather jacket and a black/white tote and she just looks so bad (as in good bad!) proving that pregnancy can be absolutely sexy.

Prints are a great way to distract unwanted bulges, pregnancy induced or otherwise. JLo was the master of this during her pregnancy, wearing many Roberto Cavalli print designs to detract from her bump.

In this photo everything works—the hat, the cut of the dress and the fab print and the white shoes. Awesome!! Jessica Alba also sports a print in a more casual dress. What also works here is the empire waist—another fashion ‘trick’ for those with unwanted mounds in their mid-section.

Empire waits are flattering and hide without looking frumpy. Angelina in a gray Rachel Palley dress looks chic and stylish with kids in tow in her empire waist design.

Another great detractor tactic? Layers of course! Jessica Alba uses layers in a casual look that looks comfortable yet still very pulled together. And she adds a pop of color with her red shoes.

Hale wears a chain link print dress under a long print cardigan and it also works—love it!

I have to end with this shot of Kate Hudson. She revels in her new belly so much she totally leaves it exposed. It is such a sexy look. And it takes a woman like Kate with her free spirit to pull it off. You go Kate with her low riders and red plaid shirt.

I hope this post encourages women to embrace their tummies!!
